Suspects At Large After Shooting at Lyft Driver During Routine Ride

Detroit, MI--Two suspects are at large after firing shots at a Lyft driver, in Detroit, who refused to transport them after suspecting illegal activity. Nick Hall, the driver, recorded his ride using TripCam security software for Uber & Lyft drivers. The video shows the driver getting shot at shortly after telling the suspects to leave his car.

The driver reported that the suspects were still at large after delivering the incident footage to the Detroit Police Department. The startup behind the software that recorded the incident, TripCam, urges all drivers to install security cameras to help prevent incidents like this from happening in the future.

The driver, Nick Hall, reported that passengers can easily purchase prepaid credit cards and phones that makes it nearly impossible for rideshare companies, and authorities, to locate and prosecute them. In-vehicle recording is the last line of defense that ensures that passengers are held accountable for their actions (even if their rideshare account information is fraudulent).

If anyone has any information on the whereabouts of the suspects, please call the Detroit Police Department.
