We’ve heard from a lot of Uber drivers recently who are not aware that you can accept tips. But the good news is you can! That’s right: if you drive for Uber, you can accept tips. Small tips. Big tips. Or in-between size tips.

Uber started allowing tipping in 2016, even though it’s not technically supported within the app. The official policy Uber maintains is that if a rider wants to tip, it’s not required or expected, but that the driver can receive a tip.

And that’s where TripCam comes in. If the rider wants to tip, direct them to your TripCam in your vehicle so they can. We’ve helped collect over $100,000 in tips for our drivers, and we want to see you tap into this growing pot of money.

Many riders will reward you for an excellent ride, so don’t be bashful about empowering them to. Just as customers tip waiters, barbers, or a host of other service providers, some would like to tip you too. Just deliver excellent customer service and, boom, you’re in the tips business. A lot of drivers can end up taking home hundreds of dollars or more per month. (As an example, if your average ride generates $13 and you give around 12 rides a day (and you get a 20% tip on each ride), you can take home an extra $600 a month.)

What could you do with an extra $600 per month or $7,000 per year? Pay off some extra bills? Go on that dream vacation? Give more money to your favorite charitable cause? With collecting  tips for your Uber rides, you can do all of these things and more.
